A woman with excess blood alcohol topped the car at a high speed and about four feet tall against a roundabout with her 20-month-old son in the back seat last December in Peterborough, England). Both ended up unharmed from the accident. Tania Chikwature, 32, has now been sentenced to 26 weeks in prison and is barred from driving for three years after pleading guilty to dangerous driving and under the influence of alcohol, according to The Guardian.
The video of the accident was picked up by the driver of a truck following the woman. Richard Jones pointed out that it was the most dangerous episode he has ever witnessed in 30 years of profession.
The car seemed to be out of control and with the speed it passed I was sure it would not do the roundabout the right way. When the car flew into the air that way I remember thinking: they will not survive, “Richard Jones said in a statement quoted by The Guardian.
Tania Chikwature had drunk alcohol the night before and the results of the investigation proved that a bottle of vodka was still found inside the car. Later, after a blood test at the hospital, the woman was found to be driving with 246 mg of alcohol per 100 ml of blood, three times more than allowed by law. Chikwature denied having any problems with alcoholic beverages.
“She said she had been drinking vodka between 8 pm and 1 am the night before. She said she did not feel she had a baby anymore, “said Judge Corinne Soanders-Silk.
The woman was also ordered to pay a fine of 115 pounds (about 135 euros).
