Mushrooms are amazing organisms and are the key to many ecosystems. Mushrooms belong to the kingdom of fungi – although that is strict knowledge – and have a special link in folklore and in various forms of traditional medicine.
In his quest to photograph some of the rarest mushrooms and fantastic planet, the Australian photographer Steve Axford has discovered only copies of these beings. In these images, Axford makes known mushrooms rarely seen, revealing its beautiful shapes and colors.
Many mushrooms that Axford photographs are in his residential area of Northern Rivers, New South Wales, and the photographer really believe that most of these fungi are not scientifically documented.
It is estimated that there are four million fungal species, of which only one in every 200,000 has already been described scientifically writes the tree hugger. The majority of the described species are larger fungi.
