US President Donald Trump has suggested to former FBI director James Comey that journalists who post information leaks should be detained, the New York Times reported on Tuesday.

The suggestion was made after a meeting at the White House where Trump asked James Comey to remain in the room, urging the other participants, including Vice President Mike Pence, to leave.

Then, alone, he detailed the paper, Trump condemned those escapes and said Comey should arrest journalists who published classified information. The New York Times journalist bases his story on sources close to Comey.
