Family pondered go on holiday to Turkey, but chose the Spanish island for being a safer place.
An Irish tourist was shot dead in Majorca, Spain, after being mistaken for a member of the Irish mob.
Trevor O’Neill was in that Spanish holiday island since July 13, accompanied by his wife and three children, aged five, seven and 12 years. It was while walking along the street it happened.
According to The Sun, three hooded men approached the 42-year-old man and dealt him several shots in the back. It came to be transported to the hospital but resuscitation attempts proved useless.
Authorities believe Trevor O’Neill was confused by gunmen because of his physical resemblance to Jonathan Hutch, the Irish mafia leader nephew Gerry Hutch El Monje.
At the same newspaper, Trevor’s wife said he had planned to go on holiday to Turkey, but dropped out to choose the one they considered a safer destination.
