A scary wave
Surfer-photographer Ben Thouard captured the moment when the waves hit one of the most dangerous places for surfing in the world – Teahupo’o, on the southwest coast of Tahiti, French Polynesia.
With clear waters and an inviting setting, Teahupo’o is a paradise on Earth, although the hectic waters have been responsible for dozens of athlete deaths in recent years.
With waves greater than six meters, Teahupo’o beach has become a legend in recent years in the surfer community. However, Ben Thouard was not alarmed by the violence of the sea and captured a series of beautiful photographs during the golden hour of sunrise or sunset.
“For me, waves are magic. They are incredible. I think it’s the greatest creation of Mother Nature, they are beautiful and fascinating, “explained the surfer living in Tahiti. “Everything happens in a thousandth of a second. The best part about photographing nature is to become part of it. So swimming is the best way to feel and capture the energy that’s out there, “he said.
