A cabinet “Swiss Army Knife”
More people are leaving rural areas for the city – the United Nations (UN) estimates that by 2030, 80% of the world’s population will live in metropolitan areas – and urban dwellings will tend to decrease in size, as already exists in Cities such as Hong Kong or New York.
Thinking about people with small apartments, the French design company La Fonction has developed a mobile bathroom that looks like a wooden cabinet, but unfolds to prove to be a true Swiss pocketknife of daily hygiene.
When folded, La Cabine looks like a normal minimalist cabinet. But in a few seconds, anyone can access a wide variety of bathroom accessories.
Each door of La Cabine has several shelves where we can put medicines, shampoos, lotions and make-up. There is also space for towels, towels and linen.
The center of the cabinet has a functional washbasin and storage spaces for toothpaste and toothbrush, soap and other beauty and hygiene accessories. Made of wood, the cabinet seems to have been made on purpose for a boat – hence the name La Cabine.
