A hospital that cares for bats
If you are one of those who consider bats vampiric and terrifying night creatures these bat babies under the care of Tolga Bat Hospital will prove otherwise.
Tolga Bat Hospital, in Atherton, Australia, is a center for bat bats, with a special focus on fruit bats.
When the parents of these small bats die, are affected by tick paralysis or are too ill to feed them, the center collects the pups and takes care of them until they can be released again. On average, the center hosts about 300 baby bats a year.
In addition to providing care for small bats, the hospital also serves as a sanctuary for bats that have “retired” from zoos.
The ultimate goal of Tolga Bat Hospital is to rehabilitate all the animals that go through there and return them to nature.
