A green roof in Jeju
The Jeju Island is now a tourist destination for nature lovers. But the volcanic region of South Korea is distinguished also by the various buildings with green roofs. One of these buildings is a forum, which was submerged to the level of a slope of one of the tracks from Nine Bridges Golf Course.
The building is a multipurpose space and was designed by Atelier D-LIM architects. The space was slightly buried and has a slant until the same level of the car park, not to disturb the view of the surrounding landscape, to which is added the green roof to confuse the building with the environment.
The roof also has several stone benches, which transform the space into a natural amphitheater with a capacity for 300 people. The Forum was built for the CJ Group, a South Korean conglomerate. The natural light entering the building allows illuminating the various meeting rooms and offices located on the first floor.
