The post-apocalyptic scenario of Fukushima
A few months ago Polish photographer Arkadiusz Podniesinski traveled to the site of the Fukushima nuclear disaster to see for himself what remains of this Japanese region.
There, he was granted permission to enter within 20 kilometers of the exclusion zone and the scenario is very similar to the post-apocalyptic series The Walking Dead. “It is not earthquakes or tsunamis to blame for the Fukushima nuclear power plant disaster, but humans,” Podniesinski writes on his website.
The photographer, who had previously been in Chernobyl, another region affected by a nuclear disaster in 1986, explained that this project is very personal. “I started this project to draw my own conclusions without being influenced by any media sensationalism, government propaganda or nuclear lobbyists who are trying to reduce the effects of the disaster. I also want to pass this information on to more and more people. ”
