Bamboo House in Vietnam
Floods are the most frequent natural disasters in the world. According to the UN, population growth – which means that people who settle in full bed areas – and the worsening of climate change are the main factors that potentiate the increase and severity of floods.
It is estimated that about 150 million people, mainly in the poorest regions of the planet are affected each year by this phenomenon.
To minimize the damage caused by flooding, a studio of Vietnamese architects – the H & P Architects – proposed a more environmentally friendly solution to the problem: home made from bamboo, low cost and environmental impact, floating in the water and keep families in safety in crowded situations.
Call Blooming Bamboo homes, homes have a lightweight and modular structure that can be built in just 25 days. Combined with the construction speed is also the price.
Each of these Blooming Houses cost about € 1,500 (R $ 4,800). According to the architects, bamboo houses the are able to float filled up to 1.5 meters. However, they are already working on a model to resist a flood up to three meters high.
