Dutch police will be the first in the world to use eagles to bring down drones (unmanned devices) in flight, after submitting the bird’s practice, today released the portal DutchNews news.
Although the birds belong to a private company, provides the police start using their own birds from next summer.
Security forces began training the birds in January, despite the reservations of several experts in animal welfare warned that the eagles could be injured in the grip during operations.
A police spokesman assures the daily NRC that birds used were not injured to date, but stressed that used protections in the claws.
The decision was taken due to the concern about the increasing risk of flying devices unmanned may conflict with air assets as rescue helicopters, or enter into unauthorized areas, such as near airports areas.
