US President-elect considers global warming a “lie invented by the Chinese.”
Donald Trump wants to renounce the Paris agreement, which the US formally ratified in September and which obliges the country to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases by 2020.
“It was imprudent that the Paris agreement came into force before the presidential elections in the United States,” a source in the new president-elect’s transition team told Reuters.
Donald Trump is determined to find a way to disassociate himself from the agreement signed by 195 countries and aims to combat global warming.
It is recalled that the Paris agreement on the climate came into effect on November 4, a few days after the election of Trump to the US Presidency. The Republican has made it known, over the past few months, that he regards global warming as a “lie invented by the Chinese.”
