The most beautiful bonsai
For more than 1,000 years bonsai have helped us relax, although it is difficult to keep them in good health – it requires a lot of patience, dedication and above all knowledge. In fact, this horticultural practice originates in China – where it was known as “penzai” – and not in Japan, as it is conventional to associate.
The art of caring for bonsai was redefined by the influence of Japanese Zen Buddhists – and hence the plant is very closely associated with this country.
The plants remain small due to techniques that restrict their growth linked to pruning, wire placement in the branches and the absence of fertilizer use. That is, it is a delicate process that consumes us a lot of time – and so for many of us, bonsai does not have a great future there at home.
