The Veronika Richterová sculptures.
Veronika Richterová is a Czech artist who creates sculptures of plants and animals from plastic bottles. The sculptures are so colorful and beautiful that at first sight it is difficult to believe that they are made of the same plastic that thousands of people throw in the trash.
The sculptures that now afflicts hundreds, give new life to plastic bottles that the artist collects all over the world. The collection, called PET-ART, includes various types of fauna and flora, from cacti to penguins.
At the beginning, Veronika Richterová did not include their work in any environmental agenda, as writes Inhabitat.
Richterová started working with bottles in 2004 after discovering that these objects could be easily manipulated and deformed with heat, not knowing that later work with plastic would become an “obsession for many years“, as indicated.
Over a decade oped, the artist has collected more than 3,000 plastic bottles from 76 different countries turned into beautiful sculptures.
The sculptures of animals and plants represent only a small portion of the work that the Czech artist makes plastic.
Richterová also has a collection of chandeliers and lamps made of plastic. The artist also has an edited book which explains the history, customs, fashions and other interesting facts about the plastic bottles.
