An urban tree house
Luciano Pia, an Italian architect, has an ecological vision of how people and nature can live in harmony in an urban landscape. As such, it drew an urbanization in Turin which is the living example of how people and nature can live together in symbiosis in the same space.
25 Green is a five-story apartment complex that merges with lush trees and iron beams that give the people the feeling of living in a home of a giant urban tree.
Each part of the building was designed with the natural integration in mind. The organic and asymmetrical shape of the balconies and terraces allows the trees to expand out of the building facade at irregular intervals.
The patio ponds offer a refreshing place to relax apartment owners in the summer and 150 deciduous trees allow light to penetrate the building during the darkest months and prevent their entry in the warmer months.
In addition, the trees help filter the air of the city and isolate the residents of the surrounding smells and sounds. The project was completed in 2012 and is located at number 25 Via Chabrera in Turin.
